  • butter 2 tablespoons butter
  • garlic 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • green beans 1 pound green beans, cleaned and trimmed
  • juice of lemon ½ lemon, juiced
  • lemon zest 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • parmesan cheese 1 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese.
  • red pepper flakes Pinch of red pepper flakes, optional
  • salt and pepper Salt and pepper to taste

How to make it

  1. Fill a large bowl with ice cubes and cold water and set aside.Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
  2. Add green beans and cook for about 3 minutes until crisp-tender.
  3. Drain beans and immediately place in ice water to stop the cooking.Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add garlic and cook for about 1 minute longer until fragrant.Stir in lemon juice and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Drain green beans and add to skillet.
  6. Saute green beans, stirring occasionally for about 3-4 minutes until heated through.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese and lemon zest.Season with salt and pepper to taste and a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired.
  8. Serve immediately.
