How to make it

  1. Bring water and salt to a boil in a large heavy saucepan. Slowly add grits, whisking constantly while adding. Stir in sweet potatoes.Cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer, stirring often, until grits are creamy and thick and potatoes have "melted" into the grits, about 40 to 50 minutes.Stir in cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.
