Ingredients

  • yeast 1 T yeast
  • water 1/2 Cup warm water
  • sugar 1 tsp sugar
  • shortening 1/2 cup shortening
  • salt 1/2 cup sugar
  • eggs 1.5 tsp salt
  • flour 1 eggs
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 5-6 cups flour

How to make it

  1. Let yeast, 1/2 cup warm water, and 1 tsp sugar stand 5 minutes in a separate bowl.
  2. Cream together shortening, 1/2 cup sugar, and salt.
  3. Then add eggs, 2 cups warm water, and the yeast-water-sugar mixture and continue creaming.
  4. Add 3 cups flour, cover, let rise for 1/2 hour
  5. Stir in 2 or 3 cups of flour and let rise in fridge for a few hours.
  6. Roll into small balls and flatten thin and fry in heated oil.
  7. Depending on size of pan you can fry 2-3 at a time and it only takes a few minutes on each side. Watch carefully. They fry quick!
  8. Garnish as desired.
