  • brown sugar ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • green onions 2 tablespoons thinly sliced green onions, for garnish
  • kosher salt Kosher salt, for seasoning
  • low sodium soy sauce 2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • pepper Freshly cracked black pepper, for seasoning
  • salmon fillets 4 (5 to 6 ounce) salmon fillets (about 1 inch thick)
  • sesame seeds 2 teaspoons sesame seeds (optional)
  • water 2 tablespoons hot water
  • yellow miso 2 tablespoons white or yellow miso (soybean paste)

How to make it

  1. In a medium sized bowl combine brown sugar, soy sauce, hot water and miso, stirring with a whisk.Arrange fish in a shallow baking dish or foiled liked baking pan coated with cooking spray. Spoon miso mixture evenly over fish.Broil 8 to 10 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork, basting again halfway through cooking with miso glaze (two times total). Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.
