  • brown sugar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • butter 3 tablespoons butter
  • ground nutmeg 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • paprika 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • salt 1 teaspoon salt
  • tart apples 6 large tart red apples, sliced
  • yellow onions 3 large yellow onions, sliced

How to make it

  1. In a large saucepan, saute onions in butter until tender.
  2. Place apples on top of onions.
  3. Combine remaining ingredients; sprinkle over apples.
  4. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Uncover and simmer 5 minutes longer or until apples are tender.
  5. Serve with a slotted spoon.
